I created a user-friendly app that allows the users to book approved music vendors for an upscale wedding venue.

The Problem

There isn’t an easy process to book an approved musician vendor for a wedding venue.

The Goal

- Create a simple interface that is accessible for all users.
‍- Create a process that’s simple for both the user and the musician.
- Create a process that solidifies the booking from the “search stage” to the “booking stage.”

Summary

I spoke to a local musician and a couple planning their wedding. The local musician said it was difficult to book a venue easily and receive payment. The couple planning their wedding vocalized the same concern that it’s difficult to find information and to easily book and pay.I was surprised that both parties were interested in the logistics out of an app. They wanted something that was a time saver and made the process simple for them.

Pain Points

1) Difficult to contact vendors:
The wedding couple said that they often send emails to vendors and never received a response. Our app will have a messaging system built-in.

2) No clear way to send payment:
The wedding couple said that payment is often blurry with vendors.Our app will have a payment and contract system built in.

3) Looking for vendors takes a long time on so many different sources:
The wedding couple said that they feel like they are missing a lot of vendors that aren’t easy to find through basic search.Our app will have a search bar with filters to easily find approved vendors.

4) Every booking process is different amongst vendors:
The wedding couple is having a hard time balancing all the contracts for their wedding. The booking process for the musician vendor is simple and straightforward. The contract will already be developed through our legal team.

Persona: Lucy

Lucy is a bride who needs a booking app that gives her insight on local musicians that are available for her wedding date and in her budget because she doesn’t have a lot of time or money for wedding planning.

She recently got engaged and is excited to already have dates booked at her favorite wedding venue. The venue has a booking application designed to help her find an approved music vendor.

Goals:

- To find a music vendor that is her preference for her desired wedding dates.
- To see all available musicians that are approved by her wedding venue.

Frustrations:

- Communication with wedding vendors has often been frustration during the scheduling process.

Persona: Kyle

Kyle is a local musician who is looking to connect with newly engaged couples, so that he can perform at their weddings.

He has struggled with planning, scheduling and executing successful performances at previous events. He is hopeful that a booking application will make his job easier.

Goals:

- To have a professional way to connect with potential customers.
- To have a resource that takes care of all the booking logistics.

Frustrations:

- Timely communication from a customer.
- Payment and contract details are not always easy to receive from booking clients.

User testing findings

Round 1:
- The app needs to take all users in mind and create multiple ways that a user can reach their end goal.
- A basic format needs to be implemented on musician profiles to make sure that users can find the information that they need easily.
- Additional payment types need to be available.

Round 2:
- Additional payment types need to be available.
- Having a FAQ may be helpful to users.
- There needs to be direct contact information after the booking process so that the user can contact the musician outside of the app.
